Using the most advanced dental technology possible is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Jupiter Advanced Dentistry is committed to using the technology that will enable us to provide you with the very best dental care. Below are some of the tools we use in evaluating patient oral health.
We stay abreast of emerging technologies that will improve visibility, reduce discomfort, and aid us in providing complete and thorough assessments. If you have any questions about the technology your dentist is using in your exams, please ask us! We are always glad to educate our patients so they are knowledgeable about their dental care.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays provide several advanced imaging options designed to save time, provide clearer dental photos, and expose patients to less radiation than traditional X-ray technology. Digital x-rays employ 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays. These images are immediately available to your dental team. The dentist can zoom in on images for greater precision in assessing your dental health.
Intraoral Camera
X-rays are an important component of assessing your dental health but they do not give as much detail as the intraoral camera. The intraoral camera reveals every aspect of your teeth and mouth in detail. The intraoral camera can reveal cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. This technology aids in early detection of problems, preserving your smile and reducing your long-term treatment cost.
The intraoral camera is about the size of the mirror your hygienist uses. While we use the camera, you can see everything on a monitor. This tool helps you see the condition of your teeth the same way your dentist does so you are better informed for making decisions about treatment options.
Digital CT Imaging
Digital CT imaging provides 3D data for your dentist in determining appropriate treatment plans for dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, full mouth restorations and more. Some of the benefits of Digital CT images include:
- A complete scan can be done in only 20 seconds
- Less radiation is used compared to traditional CT scans
- Doctor can easily share the data with patients, so that patients stay informed and are able to make educated decisions on their course of treatment
Digital Impressions
Digital impressions capture the structure of the teeth and gums using optical technology. They eliminate the need for traditional molds that can be uncomfortable for patients. Moreover, they provide a highly detailed and accurate impression of your teeth.
The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. The scan does not involve any radiation and can usually be completed in less than five minutes. The result is an accurate 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Digital impressions can be used for any restorative treatment including crowns, veneers, inlays/onlays, bridges, implants, and Invisalign®.
